The Bahamas
The OAG leads the portfolio and sets the policy and operational direction. The administrative head of the OAG and MLA is the Permanent Secretary. To effectively execute the legal service functions of the Attorney-General, the OAG is divided into two departments, namely:

Department of Legal Affairs; and,

Department of Public Prosecutions.
The Ministry of Legal Affairs and the Attorney General is primarily responsible for:

providing timely legal advice to the government and statutory bodies.

providing the most efficient and effective legal representation for the government in national and international matters.

drafting legislation.

promoting access to justice for all and transparency in the legal system.
The Attorney-General & Minister of Legal Affairs
The Attorney-General and Minister of Legal Affairs is a member of Government. He/she is the principal Legal Advisor of the Government, and along with a team of law officers and administrative personnel of the Office of the Attorney-General (OAG) and Ministry of Legal Affairs (MLA), provide advice and services on a range of law and justice issues.
