Mr. Garth Strachan is a veteran civil servant, having served for over twenty-five years in numerous Ministries such as Ministry of Health, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of National Security, Ministry of Education and The Cabinet Office.

After a previous stint with the Office of the Attorney General and Ministry of Legal Affairs he returned to the Ministry on 6th January, 2020 as Deputy Permanent Secretary. Since August 2021 he has been given the massive responsibility of managing the Human Resources for the Ministry and its various departments (i.e. Registrar General’s Department, Office of the Judiciary, Office of the Public Defender, Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and Freedom of Information Unit). This includes but is not limited to enhancing the organization’s human resources by planning, implementing and advising on employee relations and human resource policies, procedures and practices.

Mr. Strachan has a Master in Business Administration from Nova South Eastern University, Master of Arts in Public Administration from Exeter University in England, Master of Science in Psychology from Stirling University in Scotland and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts.
